I don...Thanks so much for your thoughts, Meghan. I don't know that book but I will check it out! I think this phenomena affects so many of us. Sabbaticals sound important, though also would be hard for me to instate. But people need this so bad that there is even some software online called 'freedom' (I think) that will allow you to block access to your Internet for however much time you choose at a pop. Hey, why aren't we Facebook friends, anyway? I was about to start asking you about your life, but FB would probably be a better venue for that. Hope you are well!Anne Liu Kellorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04194237835279617391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1915362267375371325.post-79648855364415161222012-03-14T14:32:08.516-07:002012-03-14T14:32:08.516-07:00Anne- I hear you on trying to connect, really conn...Anne- I hear you on trying to connect, really connect, with sentient and, frankly, more verbally adept humans. Facebook has been both a surprising resource for me (swimming friends from college who were also up at all hours breastfeeding and offered solidarity and support) and a real time sucker. For me, it's difficult to tune into social media/internet with intention and stay with that. Rabbit holes abound and the busier my mind is, the more I stray down them. Have you seen the book Hamlet's BlackBerry by William Powers? It has been very helpful for me in thinking through my current relationship with technology and how I envision our family growing with that alongside. I'd be happy to loan it to you or I bet you could get it from the library. My most recent gift from the book has been internet sabbaticals (days or hours when I do not check email or the internet). I've been doing them a couple of days a week and they have been wonderful for re-engaging with reading, taking care of things around the house and generally just sitting. Thanks, as always, for sharing your writing! -MeghanMeghanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05474225471709913047noreply@blogger.com
